Leading Logano: Another First Track Win

ree

The LA Clash:

"NASCAR in the LA Coliseum? That's bound to be a mess." - me when NASCAR announced their plans for this year's Busch Light Clash. Now, was I still going to watch every second of it and be excited for the start of another NASCAR season? Absolutely. And while I appreciated the effort of NASCAR to take risks and reach new audiences I was convinced this was going to be a complete mess. I didn't care about all the designing and engineering and iRacing and simulations and nothing else. I was 100 percent convinced this was, albeit a noble effort, a failed effort. Again, I am thrilled NASCAR is trying new things - major props to them and Ben Kennedy for the attempt, but no way a NASCAR race in the LA Coliseum is anything but a complete mess and disaster.

Then they raced.

From the moment I saw these cars take to the track in qualifying (missed practice due to celebrating my father-in-laws birthday and watching my beloved Mountaineers lose) I was hooked. They looked good, sounded good, and it was a sight to see them racing in the LA Coliseum. I could not wait until the heat races.

Come Sunday, the heat races and LCQ races lived up to the hype. Bumping, banging, moving folks out of the way and a never give up go 100% effort from the drivers was a thing of beauty - to top it off the cars could handle the racing. I loved every minute of it and found myself cheering hard for underdog stories of the RWR camp, and getting pumped when Bubba Wallace snagged the last transfer spot in his heat. Then we moved onto the main event and it was great. Sure, not as much drama but it was fun, it was unique and historic, and the drivers were wheelin' their cars. This Clash race did not disappoint. Sure I would've loved to see another driver win, but I did predict Logano's victory in a text to my dad pre-race. Overall, a memorable, exciting race weekend and I hope to see NASCAR repeat this experiment in the years to come. A+ work to the NASCAR folks from the top all the way down and a special shoutout to the social media team for capturing as much as possible to share across all the platforms.

Next week, I'll be back with Daytona 500 and 2022 season predications! Man, it's good to have cars back on track!
